Special Seminar with 6th degree Black Belt Jose Henrique Teixeira!

gbsbguest.jpg

Gracie Barra Santa Barbara is proud to announce a special seminar with 6th degree Black Belt Jose Henrique Teixeira!  The seminar will happen Sunday May 30th at 1PM.  Cost is $40 but if you PRE REGISTER by May 24th you pay only $30!

Master Leão Teixeira was Professor Rodrigo’s first Jiu-Jitsu teacher! Professor Rodrigo was 15 years old when started to learn Jiu-Jitsu at Gavea BJJ Academy, one of the many Gracie Barra branches in Brazil.

Master Leao Teixeira has taught many world Jiu-Jitsu champions such as Marcio Feitosa, Alexandre Soca, Mauricio Tinguinha, Nino Schembri, Felipe Souza and many more! Considered by many the best kids instructor in Brazil, Master Teixeira has developed the largest kids BJJ program in the country. With the support of State government and several private investors he have established his BJJ program in many public schools in Rio de Janeiro.

Now Master José Henrique Leão Teixeira is coming to Santa Barbara to share some of the moves that made many of his students famous in the BJJ world! Don’t miss it!!!

Master Leao Teixeira Bio: In 1992, Leão Teixeira was already making history in the Jiu Jitsu world thanks to his work at the Gracie Barra and at sports competitions organized by the Brazilian Federation and the Barra Jiu Jitsu Association. This led to his being invited to start a course for children at an Art & Culture Center in the Gavea district of Rio.

This enterprise proved to be the beginning of a new success story. The Gavea Jiu Jitsu School was inaugurated and immediately expanded so much that Henrique Leão Teixeira had to drop his classes at the Gracie Barra in order to give all his time to this new venture.

At this point we cannot fail to mention Hélio Moreira “Sonequinha (Sleepy)”, Roberto Correia “Gordo (Fatso)” Felipe Souza and Rodrigo Clark, former students of José Henrique Leão Teixeira at the Gracie Barra who, as instructors, contributed greatly to the expansion of Gavea Jiu Jitsu.

Belt Ceremony and Pool Party Scheduled for June 12th

The Belt ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 12 at 11am at the academy and is open for all GBSB students.  After the ceremony there will be a pool party and BBQ for all the students, family and friends.

Students will be recognized for their progress on the mats and promoted to the next belt and stripe levels as they advance through the Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu curriculum.   Come out and show your support to your friends and teammates.
