Gracie Barra Santa Barbara Belt Ceremony

Time flies by and another belt ceremony in going to take place in our school. It feels like it was yesterday when I had the opportunity to promote my first student.

Five years later we have a much bigger group with lots of students working towards the same goal: Learn the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I think it’s time to reward some of these students for all the effort and dedication that they have been putting into their training.

With that said, I would like to invite everyone to our belt ceremony, to take place on saturday, July 12, 11 am, at the Solvang school.

All students, friends and family are welcome!

The ceremony will be followed by a big party! After the students  get promoted, we will all celebrate together during our 1st. Gracie Barra Pool Party!!!

This event is open for everyone looking for fun, good food, music and a nice day around the pool!  Come have a great time with our team and enjoy the party with us!

Attention: Dress code will be enforced. Swimsuit is mandatory!!!

See everyone there!

World Jiu Jitsu Championship results

The party is over, but for those who were at the California State University Gymnasium last weekend, the memories are everlasting.

With the end of another World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, it is time to recover from defeat or rejoice in the good results from long months of training.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the Gracie Barra Family at the World Championship 2008. We brought home 3 trophies: Third place on the overall team results, first place on the white belts and second place on the females division.

Gracie Barra Santa Barbara had 7 athletes representing the team and got 1 bronze medal. It was a great event and one more important step forward for the growth of our sport. We all had so much fun during the 4 days of competition that we are already looking forward to the Worlds No Gi Chapionship that will take place on August 9th and 10th.
